Suitability & grading: Grade 3- Good level of stamina & fitness required for 10 days of trekking over alpine terrain

6 NIGHT ITINERARY

 DAY 1

Arrival in Chamonix.

DAY 2

CHAMONIX TO LES HOUCHES:
You commence the Tour du Mont Blanc from Chamonix taking the cable car to the Planpraz at 2000m (option to walk up if preferred), from here you take the TMB route to the Col du Brevent, Brevent 2525m and descend along the stunning ridge to Refuge Bel Lachat. From the refuge you make the long and tough descent via Parc Merlet to Les Houches and your hotel accommodation for the night.

DAY 3

LES HOUCHES TO LES CONTAMINES:
The day starts with a cable car ride to the Bellevue 1802m (option to walk up if preferred) with stunning views of the Mont Blanc range from high above the westerly end of the Chamonix valley. You then have a choice of routes to Les Contamines via Bionnassay & Chapel or the Col du Tricot & Chalets des Miage.

Distance: 13k
Height gain: +800m
Descent: -1300m (using the cable car)

DAY 4

LES CONTAMINES TO REFUGE MOTTETS:
You make your ascent through three cols, Col du Bonhomme, Col de la Croix du Bonhomme & the Col des Fours 2665m. Descending steeply through the wild and remote landscape to Ville des Glaciers and your rest stop for the night at the atmospheric Refuge Mottets.

Height gain: +1500m
Descent: -900m

DAY 5

REFUGE MOTTETS TO COURMAYEUR:
The Refuge Mottets it gives you a great position below the Col du Seigne 2516m, although you climb steeply at times you soon find yourself over the col & across French/Italian border into Italy. You then make a descent into the stunning Val Veny with easy walking through the hanging valleys to Lac Combal. From here you have two options: Taking the route up & over the Vieille d'Arp and descending to Courmayeur or by taking the shuttle bus from the La Visaille reducing the distance height gain and descent.

DAY 6

FREE DAY IN COURMAYEUR & CHAMONIX
A day of rest & relaxation. Visit the spa, take the lift up to Helbronner 3462m & see the Italian side of the Valley Blanche or perhaps just relax & enjoy this beautiful Italian alpine town. Return back to Chamonix at the end of the day by public bus.
