Mont Blanc Treks and Cicerone send a heartfelt thanks to everyone who entered!
A huge amount of entries from all over the world was received during our competition this year. We're delighted to introduce our Competition Winner 2026, Róisin Ni Cheallaigh from Ireland. She'll be joining us in September for an 8-day guided trek through the epic Italian Dolomites.
Over to you Róisin...

"When an unknown UK number recently called by WhatsApp I said to my companions, I'm not answering that, no doubt its a scam call! What a surprise to receive a text a few minutes later from Christine at Mont Blanc Treks looking to arrange a phone call about the competition I had entered in May. It is such an amazing gift to win this trek of the Dolomites Alta Via 1 and I am so looking forward to the trip.
My Dad instilled a love of the outdoors and of mountains in me as a child. When on holidays we would leave the house early in the morning to climb what was probably a nearby hillock but seemed like a mountain to me at the time! During college years and beyond I have enjoyed regular hiking trips in Ireland including The Wicklow Way, MacGillycuddys Reeks, The Twelve Bens, The Maumturks and the Comeragh Mountains. In addition I have had great hikes in the Scottish Highlands, in Wales and England. Further afield, Yosemite National Park in California was a wonderful place to hike, Mount Kenya in Kenya, Everest Base Camp and the Tour de Mont Blanc hiking loop. I also hiked in the Dolomites about 15 years ago and am excited about returning and experiencing another section of these beautiful mountains. Over flat ground I have completed the Camino de Santiago from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Finisterre in Spain, Pilgrim Paths in Ireland and in the Lakes District National Park.

My work involves the provision of therapeutic support to individuals and groups, work I relish and am privileged to do. To ensure the best assistance to my clients I am keenly aware of the need for self care. In addition to hiking I enjoy keeping fit by running, cycling, swimming and strength training. I dipped my toe into the world of triathlons which was a great buzz and hope to make time to participate more regularly. Encouraging nephews and nieces to take part in outdoor activities is fun and a great way to stay connected with them. They will be curious to hear about my trekking adventure in the Dolomites this September!"
