Continued good weather conditions over the last couple of weeks - with a heatwave down below - gave a positive start to the Tour du Mont Blanc season. We’ve just finished our first Tours of Mont Blanc and honestly, the weather, Clients, landscape and scenery could not have been better.

Snow is still around in places after 2400 metres - but with the gorgeous sunshine we have been having, it is nice and soft and the tracks are wide.
Snow Zones and Points to Note:
- The Fenêtre d'Arpette variant (Champex - Trient, CH) remains very snowy despite the heat. We strongly discourage anyone thinking of walking this path. If you go ahead anyway you would definitely need crampons and an ice axe.
- The snowfields remain on small sections of the great Cols (Grand Ferret, Seigne, Bonhomme) but the traces are very well marked however, pay attention if you walk them early in the morning and in the presence of hard snow.
- Keep maximum vigilance on water crossings – hot weather has increased the amount of melt water being drained and couple with recent thunderstorms don’t forget streams can rise rapidly and even cause landslides
Kit List
In addition to our usual kit list advice, we definitely advise that you add the following, as much for steep descents in snow as anything else.
- Poles – to aid stability if crossing snow and also take the pressure of your knees on the steep descents.
