Tour du Mont Blanc & Haute Route Trail Conditions

04/08/2018

What a summer its been so far after the initial problems with late snow the scorching temperatures have taken hold & it is set to continue.

We generally have a good mix of weather during the summer, hot & dry but also it can be unsettled at times as low pressure passes through giving a day or so of rain within a two week period.

Not this year, the extremes continue & after a bumper winter snow wise the summer is set to be the hottest on record for many many years.

So trail conditions are dry & dusty after the snow melt & temperatures at altitude are very warm. But don’t be complacent & make sure you have the correct gear with you at all times, when we have temperatures like this there is a high chance of thunderstorms which can amass & arrive quickly! Being high in the mountains is not the best place to be in an electrical storm, set off early & be on the decent before the chance of storms arrives. Always carry waterproof clothing & warm layers as the temperature change can be dramatic during & after the storm.

Always keep an eye on the daily forecast & plan accordingly, depending on your route check out the following:
