TMB Update 27 June 2025

27/06/2025

Final day on the TMB

Our first guided group has now completed the route and Robert is currently in Courmayeur on TMB2's rest day. It has continued to be very warm here, with temperature of 35 degrees in the valley. The trails are now pretty much in good condition however there are a few notable sections.

Here is an update...

Day 1 Via the Col du Brevent: Still a couple of challenging patches over the back side near to the ladders to be careful when crossing.

Day 2 Via Col du Tricot: no problem.

Day 3 & 4 Les Contamines to Courmayeur via Chapieux:

Conditions are completely fine over the Bonhomme & Col de La Seigne. No spikes needed. Very occasional short, easy snow patches. Most wore trail shoes.

BUT care still needed crossing the SNOW BRIDGE over the stream just before the last short uphill to the Croix du Bonhomme. If it is still there, go round on the slabs.

Difficult snowbridge, avoid.
Cross higher up via the slabs, much safer route.

Day 5: Courmayeur to Chalet Val Ferret: No problems on the traversing route from Rifugio Bertoni

Day 6 Chalet Val Ferret to la Fouly: No spikes required, some small patches of snow remaining but easily navigated.

Day 7 La Fouly to Champex: No Problem

Day 8 Champex to Trient: Avalanche debris on the way up to Bovine, see photo. Easily passable. Care needed when the snow melts further as it will expose the river below.

Day 9 Trient to Argentiere: No problems.

Day 10 Argentiere to Chamonix: No problems.

Avalanche debris on the Bovine route

We have many groups out on the TMB now, more groups guided and self guided groups arrive this weekend. We consider this to be our final trail condition report on the TMB as things are constantly improving each day.

Vic Chelton will be out on the Walkers Haute Route next week, we will be posting a WHR trail conditions news article next weekend.
