Food on the Trail
We’re often asked about the food available while trekking in the Atlas Mountains, and for good reason. Nutrition is a key part of any trekking adventure, and enjoying a hearty meal after a long day in the mountains is one of the true highlights of the experience.
You’ll be burning a significant number of calories each day, so fuelling your body properly is essential, not only for energy and endurance but also for your recovery and overall enjoyment. Meals on the Mount Toubkal trek are simple, satisfying, and designed to keep you going through long days on the trail.
On our Atlas trek we will have our own chef who will prepare delicious Moroccan dishes from locally sourced products. Our chef will prepare a hearty breakfast which consists of fruit, cereal, eggs and home made bread and jam. Lunch will be prepared on the trail and we will have a picnic of salad, couscous, fruit and biscuits. Afternoon mint tea and biscuits on arrival at our accommodation. Evening meals are plentiful and nourishing where traditional Moroccan cuisine will be served. The team will provide safe drinkable water however, we strongly recommend bringing a personal water filtration system. Avoid buying bottled water whenever possible, all waste must be carried out of this environmentally sensitive area.

Hydration & Nutrition Tips
Hydration and proper nutrition are just as important as your physical fitness on the trail. Poor fuelling can lead to fatigue, dehydration, or altitude-related issues. Start each day well-hydrated, and carry at least 1 litre of water with you. The support team will have bottled water so you can top up on the go.
If you're not used to eating on the move, we recommend testing different snacks and hydration routines during your training hikes to find what works best for you.
Drinks
Drinks are not included with evening meals. You’ll need to pay directly at each accommodation for any extras such as tea, soft drinks. We ask that you settle drink payments as you go, to avoid any additional charges at the end of your trek.
