TMB Col de la Seigne Conditions Update – 8 June 2026

The next section of the Tour du Mont Blanc to be inspected was the Col de la Seigne (2,516m), which marks the border between France and Italy. We approached from La Visaille and assessed conditions on both sides of the col.

The good news is that the trail is largely snow free up to around 2,200m. Above this altitude, trekkers will encounter a number of remaining snow patches on both the ascent and descent. While these are not extensive, they do require care and concentration when crossing, particularly during the cooler parts of the day when the snow may be firmer underfoot.

At present, the route remains passable for experienced trekkers equipped with walking poles and appropriate footwear. Microspikes advised. Extra caution is advised when descending through snow-covered sections, where a slip could result in a fall on steep terrain.

Overall, conditions on the Col de la Seigne are encouraging for this time of year, with significantly less snow than many trekkers might expect. We will continue to monitor conditions across the Tour du Mont Blanc and publish a full trail conditions report, including photographs and detailed route-by-route advice, on Saturday.

The free bus services is running from the 11th June, La Visialle to Courmayeur, see schedule here: https://arriva.it/app/uploads/sites/3/2026/06/000931-CourmayeurValVeny-Summer26.pdf
